OFFICE AND COLLABORATIVE SPACE

An annual Design Collaboration is held by Vega School, bringing together second- and third-year interior design students and providing them with a brief from a real-life client. The students are then placed into mixed groups and, within the span of two weeks, are required to tackle problems, solve them, and develop a final design solution, which is then presented to the client.​

For 2024, the client was the Bridges for Music Academy in Langa. Looking to expand their facilities, the Bridges for Music Academy provided a brief that involved a double-storey building using shipping containers, which would provide additional office and collaboration spaces on a budget.

Our final design solution focused on a collaborative office space for staff on the first floor and a collaborative learning space for students on the ground floor. Primarily open-plan, these spaces feature modular furniture and accommodate both group and individual work settings.

 

Our concept was inspired by the visual representation of a heartbeat, as it drew a strong connection to the site, surrounding area, sound, and the users of the space. This concept was integrated into the final design through custom furniture pieces and a cohesive colour scheme.
